DIRTY FEET

There’s a site, where the physical and spiritual meet. Where the passing of lore between two coexisting worlds occurs. Boomerangs clap, possum skin drums thud, singing and chanting echo while feet rhythmically stomp. And then silence.

Conversation has been disconnected and commutes have ceased. The site is suspended; no longer activated.

CO_EX_EN is exploring sites where ceremony, culture, exchange and celebrations were held. Sites where connection between multiple worlds coexisted but now the conversation has ceased. Sites where thresholds of physical and spiritual frequented now lay barren and void. Some sites never remembered, some fenced with signposts explaining their past uses. How do we maintain and honour these sites? How do we continue the stories in these sites of significance? How do we reactivate these sites and transpose as our ancestors once did?

Karul Projects invite you to experience the story of this site as a physical being in CO_EX_ENa riveting First Nations contemporary dance creation by Thomas E.S. Kelly.
